A Fine Antique Dutch Delft Plate, Polychrome Decorations, Tin Glazed 1600’s
Made in The Netherlands circa 1650-1700’s
A earthenware clay plate with a tin glaze and polychrome decorations. The decorations remind me of tulips and floral decorations.
Marked on the back with a red painted mark. We are dating these to mid 17th century to the start of the 18th century. There are nice stilt marks on the back from the firing process. Of the 2 plates we have, this one is marked similarly to the other plate. We have not been able to identify the mark.
We have 2 of these plates, this is Plate “B”
Size: 9″ across, 1″ tall
Condition: Glaze flakes and chips on the edges. No cracks, the plate has a nice ring when tapped. Minor utensil marks form age and use. Glaze flakes on the edges are commensurate with age and use. See pictures.
