1940’s framed oil painting on canvas of a lovely young woman in shades of red, brown and brownish-red. The painting is unsigned but it is from the estate of Betty Foy Sanders, artist, philanthropist and former first lady of Georgia, and presumably a self portrait executed during her years as a student of Lamar Dodd at the University of Georgia. The ornate gilt gold frame is outfitted with wire for hanging.
Good vintage condition with wear to the frame including some gold finish loss as shown in photograph 7. The hanging wire appears sound but might need to be replaced.
The painting with frame measures 26” wide x 30” tall x 2.5” deep. The painting without frame measures approximately 17.5” wide x 21.26” tall x 1” deep.
