Dated 1894 and signed “S. La Dure”, this original oil on canvas is very well-executed. The subject is a still-life painted in the Old-World style of the Dutch masters. With a somber background, this painting presents a traditional, interior table-setting with a bird, some flowers, and a grouping of fruit which includes apricots in the foreground and grapes in the background. The use of light and shadow as well as the realism of this painting are reminiscent of the Dutch masters. Painting is in very good condition. The frame appears to be original and shows normal signs of age; there are chips in the gold.
